Su-paw-star airport police dog predicts Euro 2024 group winners

Several animals have stepped up over the years to try and guess the results of important football matches. Creatures of all shapes and sizes have had a go since Paul the Octopus predicted Spain would win the World Cup in 2010.

With Euro 2024 kicking off, London Stansted and Essex Police have decided to join in the fun by releasing a fur-bulous video of PD Buddy, an airport police dog, making his selections for the group stages.

Using tennis balls, the springer spaniel, whose day job is to patrol the passenger terminal with his handler, picked the six teams he thinks will win their groups.

London Stansted’s Social Media Manager, Ellie Miller, said: “I'm afraid it's bad news for England and Scotland fans, as PD Buddy believes Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, Poland, Ukraine and the Czech Republic will win their groups and advance to the next round. Hopefully England and Scotland can secure runner-up spots if Buddy's predictions come true. London Stansted is certainly buzzing in the run up to the tournament. In the last few days, we've seen lots of England and Scotland fans pass through the airport, which only adds to the excitement and anticipation about the upcoming games."

The first game kicked off between Germany and Scotland on June 14 at Munich's Allianz Area and finishes on July 14 at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. A total of 24 teams will take part in the 31-day tournament which will take place at stadiums across Germany.

Over the next month, thousands of fans are expected to travel to the tournament through London Stansted. The airport serves ten German destinations, and all the host cities are just a short flight away and easily accessible via public transport.
