As we embrace the height of summer and many of us escape for glorious getaways to enjoy it, we are excited to bring you the latest news, updates, and opportunities from our dynamic business community.
In the July edition of Grapevine you’ll discover great industry insights as our Members share their expertise on a range of topics impacting the business world today. It’s also been a busy month for great news stories from our community with so many highlights, achievements and celebrations to share.
Let’s take this opportunity to look back and what a great month July has been for the Chambers.
Denise Rossiter – Celebrating 20 Years at the Chambers
Huge congratulations to our amazing CEO, Denise Rossiter, who is celebrating 20 years at Essex Chambers of Commerce.
Denise is a strong pillar in the Essex Business Community who has accomplished so much, not just for the Chambers but for the whole county. Through her tireless work she has forged strong bounds between the Police, community organisations, major infrastructure projects, internationally renowned brands, overseas Chambers and business leaders in Essex.
She fights so that the voices of Essex business are heard at top levels of local councils and government. As we are an apolitical organisation, Denise has cultivated great relationships with cross party representatives to ensure that concerns of our Members are escalated to the right people.
Here’s to many more years with Denise steering us in the right direction for Essex!
Community Engagement – Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust
We recently collaborated with Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust to support them with their community art exhibition, “Palette to Prevention” which took place at The Forum, Southend.
As part of the exhibition, they worked with several local artists to provide a series of creative workshops where attendees could try their hand at pottery, poetry, painting, photography or sewing.
All proceeds went to Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust to fund their continuing work in the local community supporting all people before, during and after breast cancer.
Connecting our Member Network
At the beginning of the July we were delighted to be back at our Patron’s DP World London Gateway for a fantastic morning of networking. Made even better by an exclusive behind the scenes coach tour, where our attendees got to experience firsthand the impressive scale of the state-of-the-art automated port and logistics park.
We were joined by DP World’s Commercial Development Officer, Chris Green, who took our attendees through the history of the port and their exciting future plans. They also learned about how the port has the capacity to connect UK businesses with over 130 ports worldwide, creating huge possibilities for global trade.
We also celebrated our 27th Annual General Meeting at the amazing Head Quarters of Essex & Suffolk Water. It was wonderful to be joined by our Members to discuss the past year at the Chambers.
It was a particularly special occasion as two new Board Members were appointed to join our regulatory group. We are delighted that Joe Denham, Chairman of VegTrug Ltd, and Andy Mead, Managing Director of Finishing Line Ltd, will now have a place on our Board. To have two such accomplished individuals and business leaders join our Board is a very proud moment for Essex Chambers.
Once the official business of the AGM was concluded there was great opportunities for our Members to engage with one another before we were joined by Heidi Mottram, CEO of Essex & Suffolk Water. Heidi gave a very engaging talk to our attendees, discussing the company’s future and their commitment to sustainability, as well as giving helpful tips on what everyone can be doing to look after our water supplies.
AGMs are always a perfect opportunity to reflect on the Chamber’s achievements. We continue to go from strength to strength and that’s thanks to our amazing member community. Thank you to our Members for continuing to work with us for the betterment of Essex.
