USP College Celebrates the Achievements of the Class of 2025

USP College marked a momentous occasion as 23 higher education students graduated, celebrating their academic achievements during the Class of 2025 Graduation Ceremony held at the Immersive Theatre.

This year’s graduates represented a range of fantastic courses, including the Foundation Degree in Early Years, BA (Hons) in Education Studies & Early Years, and HND in Games Development. Friends, family, and tutors joined together to honour the accomplishments of the graduating class, reflecting the culmination of years of hard work and perseverance.

The evening began with graduates donning their caps and gowns, followed by an inspiring ceremony led by Luke Brewster, Master of Ceremonies, alongside Dan Pearson (CEO) and Clare White (Principal), who presented each graduate with their scrolls.

During the ceremony, highlights included a motivational speech from Madam Mayor, Councillor Lynsey McCarthy-Calvert, graduates recounting their educational journeys, and an exciting showreel showcasing HND Games Development coursework.

In his keynote address, Dan Pearson emphasised: "At USP College, you've honed more than just your academic skills. You've learned resilience, creativity, and how to adapt when life throws a curveball. These are your superpowers. Machines might be clever, but they can't dream, care, or laugh at a bad joke like you can. The skills to adapt and learn new things will be vital to navigate this changing job market. Congratulations, Class of 2025—go out there and show the world what you're made of!"

The event was graced by the presence of the Mayor of Castle Point, Cllr Lynsey McCarthy-Calvert, as well as members of the Academic Procession, including:

  • Dan Pearson (CEO)
  • Clare White (Principal)
  • Chris Murgatroyd (Vice Principal Academic)
  • Charlotte Sullivan (HE Programme Leader)
  • Lesley Carter (Teacher of HE Early Years)
  • Rachel De’Ath (Academic Support Tutor)
  • Jacqueline Reilly (HE Academic Support Tutor)
  • Dee O’Malley Baker (Teacher of EY Adult)

Three outstanding graduates were awarded academic prizes in recognition of their exceptional efforts and achievements:

  • Alex, for remarkable resilience and excellence.
  • Alexander, for dedication and achievement.
  • Jennie, for leadership and positivity.

Speaking on behalf of the graduating class: "As we step out into the world, we take with us the lessons we've learned, the social skills we've formed, and the passion to make a difference. The Foundation Degree in Early Years has sparked my love for learning, and each module has deepened our understanding of educational history, theory, and current practices. It’s never too late to keep striving for success—let’s raise our heads high, take on the world, and make it a better place. Here's to the Foundation Degree Class of 2025!" — Poppy, Foundation Degree in Early Years

"Over the past two years, we've grown as individuals and in the roles we're pursuing. Together, we overcame challenges—from game bugs to creative blocks and late-night assignments—and created lasting memories, whether through DnD sessions, trips to London, or simply sharing laughs as a class. Huge thanks to USP College, Xtend Digital, and our incredible teachers for guiding us on this journey. As we now go our separate ways—whether continuing education, entering the industry, or exploring new paths—I wish everyone success in achieving their goals and, most importantly, joy in the journey. Here's to us, the Class of 2025!" — Aleksandr, HND Games Development

"Returning to education was a leap of faith for many of us, filled with doubts about fitting in, but our shared determination carried us through. We brought together our diverse experiences, battled deadlines, and supported one another every step of the way. To our incredible lecturers—Leslie, Rachel, and the entire team—your encouragement and inspiration have meant the world. To my family, thank you for your unwavering belief in me. And to my fellow graduates: we've overcome incredible challenges, and we've done it together. Class of 2025, congratulations—you're capable of amazing things!" — Jennie, BA (Hons) Education Studies & Early Years

The College’s long-standing partnership with the University of Hertfordshire, which validates several of its higher education programmes, was also celebrated during the event. This collaboration continues to provide students with the opportunity to earn degrees that combine academic rigour with practical, real-world experience.
