Welcome to this update from Network Rail's Anglia route about the work we will be doing over the Christmas period.
I know that Christmas may still feel some time away, but as people are starting to plan their travel over that period, I wanted to make you aware of our plans well in advance.
Work will be happening all across the country. Here on Anglia, we will be focussing on two main sets of works:
Work at London Liverpool Street
We will be working to improve the passenger experience inside London Liverpool Street and to renew parts of Bishopsgate Tunnel, a key rail tunnel just outside the station. To make this possible, London Liverpool Street will be closed from Christmas Day, Wednesday 25 December, with services resuming on Thursday 2 January.
Greater Anglia services, including Stansted Express, will be diverted to Stratford. London Overground services will terminate at London Fields. London Underground Victoria Line or local buses can be used to continue journeys by changing at Walthamstow Central or Seven Sisters.
Work south of Cambridge
We are carrying out extensive work south of Cambridge, including renewals of the track and of the signalling system, as well as continuing construction work for the new Cambridge South Station, which will ease congestion and provide quicker and easier access to the city’s biomedical campus.
There will be no services between both Royston/Audley End and Cambridge/Cambridge North between Tuesday 24 December and Monday 6 January. Rail replacement bus services will be in place between affected stations except on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
For details of bus replacement services, please check the Greater Anglia website.
